Hatha Yoga is the most classical form of Yoga and taught as a holistic (whole person) practice. Ha means Sun & Tha means Moon - the aim being to work with opposite energies of each, learning how to create a more balanced person.
What's included in Hatha Yoga Classes?
Typically classes are slow paced, they explore the broad subject of Yoga, which is more than the poses. We settle at the start of the class, do some warming up, leading to standing and seated poses, Yoga breathing, sometimes philosophy and Meditation and ALWAYS a lengthy, guided relaxation at the end of each class.
Hatha Yoga classes are described as Beginner, Gentle, Mixed Ability.
- Beginners is "from scratch",
- Gentle is slow paced, with do-able options for older or injured clients, or those who want more of the relaxing benefits of Yoga,
- Mixed Ability includes a broad spectrum of options, including more strenuous ones.
Restorative Yoga is a modern Yoga remedy for overwhelm, burn out and stress. Using rest and quiet to soothe and restore from the inside out. Typically only 3-5 poses per class, all of which use cushions, pillows and blankets under and around the body to provide support, meaning the body can rest.
